in the local economy by my parts. every person who works on my product is going to raise the price of my product. every hand that touches the unit that i sell, a certain percentage of the company buys this products. every time i go to a vendor to get a part, my costs will increase. my competitor build a similar part for almost a third of what i build a mine. you will take away the factory workers who manufacture my parts. this is all usa jobs. lower the price of gas. back to two bucks a gallon and you won't have to worry about the minimum wage. host: how would an economist pre-minimum wage respond to that caller? guest: you are raising the cost of that worker to that business. that worker will have more money to spend. you can make more profits. you can pass the cost to people who are buying your goods by raising prices. raising the minimum wage has an effect on the economy. the question -- if there is a chance it would raise unemployment or perhaps put a business in the red. host: michelle, tacoma, washington. caller: i just realized our state is one of the higher states with minimum w

in congress on the economy. 42% to 48% on health care, with 45% trust and the president on gun policy more of 43% trust republicans with gun policy. on the issue of the environment, 55% trust president obama more. foreign policy, it is 51% to 37%. theresa, nevada. caller: regarding president obama using executive orders to go around the republicans in the house, i am all for it. i am aware that this is a two- party democracy and we need republicans to be reasonable working party, but they have not been. the president has no choice but to go around them. john boehner has walked away. i am frustrated and the country is frustrated, other democrats are frustrated and scared. i am scared of the things they're willing to do to our country. he is doing what he has to do. i am all for his proposals, all for clean energy and comprehensive immigration, i am for gun legislation. i am for all of them. i am center-left, that is progressive. i think the country is definitely going progressive. i do not understand where the republicans want to obstruct and go with their small mindedness and small governm

like to see attention on the economy. we are failing hugely there. host: allison, west virginia, brian is on the line. caller: i think it is time people take responsibility. the gun is harmless while it sits in your cabinet. when you push people, you get an unstable amount of people out here. they need to be held accountable. it is not the gun's problem. that is our second amendment right. it should not be up to any body in politics to take away something that was given to us. host: what are your thoughts on the votes on the specific measures? caller: take care of the criminals. investigate these people that are unstable. why should the politicians vote -- let us vote in. let us vote on it and see where its lace. host: that is just one of the ways to contribute to the conversation. also from the lead story in, "the chicago tribune." and ex aldermen in chicago committed tax fraud -- "the washington post," has a story on its front page. saying -- new jersey, democrats line, talking about president's gun proposal and if they deserve a vote in congress. caller: absolutely they deserve it.
